Dear Founders You Should Know friends,
Two weeks ago, Founders You Should Know had our Broadway debut – that is, we launched our inaugural showcase at USV’s office on 817 Broadway. 🙂 Check out the video here.
There’s a palpable energy around a fast-growing tech scene in NY — the founders who start companies here embody the spirit of pioneers. In SF, there’s a running joke of a tech monoculture that leads to 1 in 3 startups building tools to serve other startups. But in NY, it’s different — the confluence of industries and experiences brings technology to bear on new problems, customers and industries.
Young people are building here, and intrepid people are building here, even though it may feel riskier to join a startup than to work in consulting or to trade at a hedge fund. This feels like the early innings before an explosion of tech in NY, where the scene is still delightfully intimate and a little bit fringe, with the promise of great growth to come.
