3 Year FYSK Attendee Leif Dreizler (Semgrep) On Why He Keeps Coming Back
“I can’t imagine being able to job search as efficiently as attending one of these events.”
Leif’s Founders You Should Know Journey
If you’ve been to a Founders You Should Know showcase over the past 3 years, you might’ve met Leif Dreizler. Leif has been attending our events since 2022 — first as a job seeker, now as general tech enthusiast and curious angel investor.
Leif attended our December 2022 showcase after 5 years at Segment to explore what could be next. At this show, Isaac Evans presented his buzzy Series B security startup Semgrep – Leif had been aware of the startup for a few years and had known a few people that were working there. A few months after the showcase, he joined their team as Senior Software Engineering Manager, and continued to attend events throughout 2023 and 2024.
Leif continues to attend our events for the community — “It’s cool to join a community that is very cross-tech…you meet people that are working on all sorts of interesting projects”. After 3 years of FYSK experience, he shares his take on the value of attending these events.
Leif’s take on the value of FYSK showcases
If you’re a job-seeker…
“If you’re somebody that wants to work at an early-ish stage company, it's a really efficient way to hear what 10+ companies are working on. I can’t imagine being able to do that as efficiently as attending one of these events.
The team has a good eye for what is cool, and gets good recommendations from smart people. If you want to work at an early stage company, or even understand if you want to interview or not, it's a great event to attend.”
If you’re toying with the idea of starting a company…
“It’s good to attend if you want to start a company… at the very least you can hear what pitches are resonating and how you’d want to tailor your presentation if you were pitching yourself.”
If you’re a current founder on the fence about pitching…
“It’s a great opportunity — if you’re a founder that’s on the fence, you should definitely do it. There are smart people in the audience that might want to work at your company. If you have a developer- facing product, you might even find some interesting customers. It’s a friendly community, very welcoming, not very risky.”
Come meet 12 founders of breakout startups and long-time community members like Leif at our February 5th showcase in SF. Apply to attend here.
